As I sat down to write this, I found myself singing Marvin Gaye’s, What’s Going On.
…We don’t need to escalate
You see, war is not the answer
For only love can conquer hate
You know we’ve got to find a way
To bring some lovin’ here today, oh oh oh
Picket lines and picket signs
Don’t punish me with brutality
Talk to me, so you can see
Oh, what’s going on
What’s going on
Yeah, what’s going on
Ah, what’s going on…”
I look at the world, our country, our communities… and think, what’s going on?
Marvin Gaye wrote this song in 1971 in response to his brother’s homecoming from Vietnam. (You can learn more from this short NPR All Things Considered bit.) And yet… his words are proving timely.
…What’s Going On?
And today, separate from the world stage, the troubles and questions I have no answers for, I want to share with you, what’s going on in my mundane little life. I want to know what’s going on with you, too.
I have so much on my mind and so much I want to write about. I plan posts in my head, but it’s hard to find the time to sit down and tap them into a blog. I used to write a lot in the morning before work, but with the chickens, it’s difficult to carve out the extra space in my schedule.
What’s Going On, Mr. Farrell? …Haying.
I will write in bursts, I suppose, and post them all at once.
Go to whatever catches your eye. But I hope you visit them all. 🙂
What’s Going On?
Share about you, share about what you think.
HEHE! How funny! That’s the song that was in my head when I typed out my “what’s going on” post too! great minds for sure!
I got such a chuckle when I realized what your blog post was called, Kristin!
Happy Sunday! 🙂
