There’s been a lot going on… So, I’m putting up a group of posts at once.

This Post: Relish Happiness
I’m was going to title this post: My Chicken Is Prettier Than Your Chicken. But that’s not nice. 🙂
Okay, who else has pretty chickens? Penelope is our first girl to “develop” (har har) and these pictures are from a couple of weeks ago. She literally appeared to be posing. I have A LOT of these photos.
 Â
“Which is my best side?” asks Pretty Penelope.Â
Laughing she answers, “Who are we kidding? All sides are my best sides!”
If you’ve read the other posts I just added (all listed at the top of this post), you have read about a lot of ups and downs, successes and failures, questioning, wondering, being anxious and having no answers, and yet, carrying on.
We are also keeping our eyes wide open for happy moments.
Our chickens have definitely brought a bounty of happiness into our days. Oh sure, there is the work and the worry, but nothing takes your mind off of a long, beat-ya-up day at work like watching chickens eating apples on a stick.

Good morning, Mr. Karmann Ghia.

New Run Roof – Creating More Shade for Chickens, Making Tracy Happy
Just me, peeking out from the corn field. 😉
I will keep this post short and sweet. I believe during these “troubled times” in our world (and sometimes RIGHT in our communities), we need to actively look for moments of happiness in our lives.
And relish them.
Tracy, You made my day. I miss you and reading everything is a treasure as I feel you to my soul. I love you and so glad for the fun chickens (though work) and the pleasure, joy they can make you feel. Love the garden pictures and Gordon being “the Man” doing the handyman building. Thank you! Love, Mom
Why thank you, Mom! I wanted to put up a positive post this week. Sometimes the pictures do speak a thousand words!
Love and miss you, too!
Nice Tracy!! Chickens definitely bring lots of happiness and joy. Our girls have been free ranging every day that I can let them out and they love it!! I love when they come running over when I go outside. Or if I can’t find them (they’ve taken to hiding in the knotweed along the creek. Me thinks that is not such a good idea but I can’t stop them from it) and I call out ‘chickens!!’ and they come running! Anyway, thanks for sharing some happiness with us!
Thanks for popping on by, Kristin!
I’ve come to learn that those chickens are greedy little souls for treats. 🙂 Daisy loves her watermelon, and the apples are a big hit with everyone. Fresh blueberries? Not so much. But Mimi likes them. Pears? Yeah, if there are no apples. Penelope will eat anything.

(But don’t tell her I said that!) 😉
Your posts often make my day! These days of an incredible undercurrent of stress and uncertainty. Every work task and business transaction takes thought and planning, and my eyes are exhausted from screen time. Sometimes that all piles up.
So we fill our days with the small joys that make up a rich life- a warm puppy, filling bird feeders, tending flowers, sitting in the gazebo during rainstorms; food experiments that take all day (smoking), jig saw puzzles, taking a ride (just like the old folks!) Wwe go outdoors to throw a ball for the pup or gather a bouquet from our yard.
And for a few moments, we are peaceful, successful and content.
Thank you, Lori! miss seeing you. 🙂
And I’m with you on the food experiments – plus, it’s so nice to have easy access to home-cooked meals that I wouldn’t take into an office setting (think fish or strong scented Indian food). Mr. Gordon and I have been taking those “Sunday drives,” too. Old folks we are! 😀
