Chickens are amazing. It’s been so cold here and although they do not like the snow, they are making the most of it.
Here are just a few photos from this morning’s “letting out.” I was running a tad late – I overslept! (Very unlike me.) But the girls still got their morning oatmeal and I plucked an egg from the westernmost nesting box.

Their laying has only slowed a bit. We have eight girls and get about four eggs a day now (versus the seven to eight we were getting). This works for us. We have a nice supply of eggs stored in the refrigerator so we should not need to buy any eggs. We have even shared a bunch!

Do you raise chickens? How are they doing this Winter?

What a lovely egg apron!
Our girls have slowed down quite a bit. We are getting one egg a day if we’re lucky. Not sure if they are just aging out or if it’s the cold affecting them. No worries, we enjoy their company just the same.
Blessings in the New Year!
Thank you, Daisy! 🙂 I received two as Christmas gifts this year; one from my husband and one from my mother-in-law. Different patterns, so that is nice!
Hope you and yours, and your chickens, are healthy and well. Thank you for stopping by the blog and happy New Year! 😀
I’m jealous of your egg apron! Maybe I should sew one this winter for myself! Our girls finally started laying again this week. Not quite enough for us to not need eggs from the store, but they’ll get there!
How did I miss this comment, Bekah? It must be the craziness of 2021’s opening. Good gravy.
You should absolutely sew an egg apron! Oooo… maybe collab with Kristin over at Chicken Librarian: I just had a vision. Wouldn’t it be cool to get fabric with some of her images and then each unique photo is a pocket? 😀 Hey, even wild ideas can land in the right hands and take off.
Hope your chickens are doing well and are happy in their new home!
