I have so many photos to post… I asked myself, do I add several small blogs to Garden, Cook, Eat, Repeat! or do I put up one big one and give ya all I’ve got?

Yesterday was the BIG DAY! Chicken Moving Day! Yay! We had wanted to get them out into the coop a couple of weeks ago, but with the crazy weather we’ve had (multiple snow days in May), coop building was delayed off and on. Plus, we needed to make sure that the temperatures were not going to be too low for them. While they are “cold hardy” breeds – 4 Australorps (black ones in the video) and 4 Plymouth Barred Rocks (white and black checks) – they were too little to be in the cold right off of the bat. Okay, May 9th, upstate NY, and yeah, it’s snowing. Gotta love it. 😉
This is putting a cramp on the coop building today. It’s pretty cold – mostly it’s that dang wind. Because of the wind, we decided to forego finishing the outside of the roof today. Maybe tomorrow we can get to that.

Here’s something to put a little smile on your face!
This morning we cleaned out the chick brooder and added fresh litter. The Girls love it! We then placed a camera at one end, and here’s what you get: chick photo bombs set to a tune called “Tracy Hates Surf” composed by my husband, Mr. Gordon. The music really seems to fit the video! Years ago, when we still were living in our city home, we dreamed of a little homestead in the countryside where we would have big gardens and chickens. We carried this dream with us for over a decade as we looked for a place – and a way – to buy our country home.
